Hi all,

Most likely the first of many questions.
SUN's documentation assume's you have done all this before.
Since I just recieved my Solaris Admin 1 and 2 certs I am in need of help.

I have a V240 server with dual SCSI controllers and a 3310 Storedge array with dual controllers. I am still trying to decide on single bus -vs- dual configuration.

I need to add LUN's to my sd.conf file.
I somewhat understand the file and whats going on but to make sure can someone give me a brief overview or point me the right doc's?

My real question with LUN's is since I am using two controllers do I need to reflect this in the sd.conf file?
I have configured an array before (for the same client)
but it had only a single controller.
I just added LUN 1 and 2 for target 0.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay

I struggled with this about 12 months ago & as I haven't even done Solaris admin yet I'm not much help (I should have made notes at the time) but I do remember installing Sun Storedge 3000 family software on my PC which included a configuration utility. This came with the documention CD packaged with the array.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

I didn't realize there was a utility I could use on my PC.
I am in the array via telnet to the server and using the tip command. The firmware is pretty straight forward and I have deleted the pre-configured RAID 5 sets (there were two)
I then configured it the way I need it with one RAID 5 set with 4 disks and a RAID 1 with two. Next step is partitioning and THEN I get to to assign LUN's to the partitions.

My question pertains to the sd.conf file on the server
but I think I may have it figured out.

Will all know how it goes when I get there :)

Thanks for the response.
