I have had much success configuring my customer's Treo 650's to use Activesync with SSL. I just setup the Certificate Authority service on my server and create our own cert. The treo 650 has no problem accepting this self signed cert and then utilizing SSL on the Activesync connection. The problem I have is with the newer Treo 700. It comes up and says the Certificate is not from a trusted body and will not accept it. I cannot figure out how to get the 700 to accept it. I did follow the instructions I found on Microsoft's site to export the cert and then use the dekstop/USB activesync to download it to the phone. I still cannot get the phone to accept it.

Could somebody please point me to a set of instructions on how to do this on a 700? I know I can purchase a cert from a Authority that the phone already trusts, but I'm trying to save that expense.

Thanks in advance.

Umm, with my PDA's i have to add the root authority of certificate. then run it on the PDA. Is it in the root certificate on the PDA. Does it run on the PDA

On the Treo 700, I can go and see the list of trusted root CA's, but I have no way of adding to this list. That is the problem. I need to figure how to import the certificate into the 700 after I have exported it from my server.

On the 700w, you can typically copy both the personal and public certs to the device, then click on each one and answer YES.

58sniper,
Thanks for the info. That is part of my problem though. When I click on it, I get a warning saying the cert is not from a trusted authority. It does not give an option to install it anyway.
