Need Help With Still Image Monitor

I just started to use my scanner again because I haven't in a while and now Still Image Monitor (STIMON) never starts up because I had taken it off the startup programs list. (using msconfig) I put it back on the programs list and it won't star up with Windows ME. Now even when I try to start up stimon.exe manually it won't open up. Can anyone help me out and tell me what's wrong? Thanks.

I had a similar problem with STIMON which was resolved by renaming the file, editing the registry as instructed and reinstalling the scanner software. All found in Microsoft support article #Q306393. While my error did not specify an Invalid page fault in Kernel32.dll as the article states (my error read &quot;Stimon has caused an error<unknown> Stimon will now close), the fix worked. Beware, the instructions seem to become a bit confusing roundabout editing the regisry, but they work if executed as written. Good luck! Fear Not!

What errors are you getting when you attempt to use your scanner? I am using HP Scanjet 5300C and don't have to engage Stimon manually. Usually the scanning software calls required modules when needed. I removed it from startup long ago..
