Hi, may be a dumb question, but here's what I'm trying to do. I have a batch file that I'm trying to get setup as a Scheduled Task.

The Scheduled Task is only running whenever I am logged into the server as the same account as the account and password I entered for the task.

I don't want to worry about making sure I'm logged in as the same user for the tasks, I want them to run no matter who logged into the server last.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You must make sure the user that is launching the task has the necessary rights to launch a batch file and also to launch schedualed tasks.... Like a local administrator.

"In space, nobody can hear you click..."

Reddlefty, thanks, but not sure if that's the solution.

All the accounts I'm using are admin accounts and can run a batch file.

The thing is, the scheduled task only runs when the account name/pwd for the task is the same as the name/pwd that is logged into the machine.

Like if I login with adm_account1 and correct password, and use that name/pwd combo for my scheduled task, it works.

But if I login with adm_account2 and correct password, but still have adm_account1 and it's password in the scheduled task, it doesn't run.

Need help,
Thanks

Would it work better for you if instead of using task scheduler you ran the batch file as a service? You can use the srvany.exe and instsrv.exe utilities to run almost any exexcutable as a service. Just do a web search for these files and you'll find them and all the info you need.

mmendes, that looks really cool, but according to MS you can't use srvany.exe and instsrv.exe for batch files, which is what I need them for:

"Instrsrv.exe installs and removes system services from Windows NT and Srvany.exe allows any Windows NT application to run as a service.

The Windows NT Resource Kit provides two utilities that allow you to create a Windows NT user-defined service for Windows NT applications and some 16-bit applications (but not for batch files).
