I have a Lucent Definity switch that is connected to a Lucent Page Pac Plus Amplicenter D300 so that the users in different buildings can page over the loud speaker. The problem is that the Amplicenter and probably the control system it connects to have died (no power). Replacing these units will cost over 2K, so does anyone know of a cheaper alternative that will work with a Definity switch. Thanks...

The definity system itself has a paging feature on. Try the command change group-page x. There you cna enter a internal extension number and extension numbers of handsets where you would like the voice to come out of when the internal extension number is called. I reckon this should be the cheapest method coz its free!! Hope this helps.

I really appreciate your post, and that is cheap, but just having the page come out at an ext is not enough. Our old system which died went through an amplifier to loud speakers throughout a manufacturing facility so that if someone was not near a phone they could hear the page. What I am looking for is a way to accomplish that or a cheaper replacement system that is compatible with a Definity.

It doesn't come out of just one terminal you can set it up to come out of 32 terminals per group and can have up to 20 groups of 32.

You should get a decible reading before you go the cheap route. You can end up blowing the speakers out of the phones in a mfg fac.

The 2K will seem like small potatos compared to the cost of 30+ phones.

Get a maintenance contract on your pagepac then. That is our weakest link in several of our warehouses.

Thanks to both of you...

You would not have to use a page pac. You can use any amp that has the proper line output and enough power for the number of speakers you are driving. Loudspeaker paging utilizes ports on an Aux board. If you need multiple zones you can do it using multiple ports (it might actually be setup that way already).
