When I try to copy a file from my CD, I get the message: "Cannot copy specified file"

I can see the file in explorer, but I can't copy it. What is the problem? Is there a way around this?

That error is usually caused when file file is corrupted. It is possible that you also do not have permission to copy the files. Check to make sure that the error doesn't happen with other cds. If it does it could also mean your cd-rom drive is failing.

I've tried other CDs and do not have this problem. Also, the computer is brand new. What did you mean, I may not have permission to copy the file? It's only a CD that supplements a college course tha I'm taking. It accompanied one of my textbooks.

The file may be corrupt. Try copying it on another computer.

The fact that you say that you have tried this with other cds and its fine makes me think even more that the file itself is in fact corrupted on the cd.
