Hi, This is my first post on this site. I hope someone can help because this problem has stumped me.

I just installed a new Santa Curz Sound card in my new 6 month old Win XP system. I loaded all of the drivers and they installed correctly and there are no conflicts in device manager.

I'm having problems with sound on my system. Randomly, the sound will repeat quickly 4-5 times and then continue normally. The effect is like a very quick and repeated stutter. This happens typically (but not always) when cpu usage increases a little.

I've been working with tech support (which hasn't been terrible) and I've tried everything except a reinstall of xp pro (which I not willing to do yet).

My question is this: I know very little about the REGESTRY. I just noticed that in my registery, there is an entry for a sound card that I had in my system for a day (voyetra Montego). I only find this entry in the LOCAL MACHINE/SOFTWARE section. Could this be a problem and what is the best way to remove this correctly?

Thanks for your help,
Eman

i donot think it is advisble to access the registry directly . first uninstall the drives againg and re install them .if u still want to access the registry better take a back up of it. one more option try with another sound card if u have the same problem with then probably ur cpu is not fast enough to permit buffering with out dropping sound data ( i had seen this in a book and telling u the solution) he said to change the capacity of the RAM or replace a mother board( its i the book called "trouble shooting &maintaining PCs by bigelows
