Need help on WIC-T1-DSU for Cisco 1602 - Error Messages

I acquired a WIC- T1-DSU card for my Cisco 1602 router running IOS version 12.0(12) with 18MB DRAM and 8MB Flash. I get the following error messages during boot-up:

%C1600-4-BADINTFC: Interface [dec], (0-1 Onboard interfaces 2=WIC) Invalid interface (Unknown, Uninitialized or Bad Cookie value read)
%C1600-4-INTFCNOFLH: Unable to load images or communicate over interface
%SYS-4-CONFIG_NEWER: Configuration from version 12.0 may not be correctly understood

After the boot-up process, the software DOES recognize the WIC-T1-DSU card as Serial1. I can even do a service-module test on the T1 card and the result is always ‘PASSED’. I have no problem setting configuration on the interface either

Question:

1. With those errors, will my Cisco router work with a T1 line from the Telco?

2. If the answer to the above is NO, how can I get rid of those errors?

Your insights and advice will me much appreciated. Thank you.

The problem is that the IOS version that you have installed does not recognise the card that you have installed (unless those messages are coming from the boot loader).

To verify that the card is supported you can check the hardware-software compatibility matrix. I think you need a CCO login for that.

HTH,
Michael.

Thanks for the reply.

I did check the compatibility, for the 1600 series, all 12.0 and up version of the IOS will support the Wic-T1-Dsu card. This explains the fact that after the entire image is loaded from flash, the Wic-T1-dsu card is active.

I suspect the system bootstrap version which is only 11.1(10) is spitting out those error messages.

I am new with Cisco routers so I am not sure if the system bootstrap version can be altered/upgraded in my router or how.

Thanks

I have the same problem, how did you resolve this, or, was the router ok after the flash loaded up?
