ey, im having problems unistalling the fotoexplorer ver 1.2
that was bundled with photodeluxe home 4 by adobe

i have already unistalled photodeluxe but the digital camera icon in my computer is still there, another one is located in the control panel.

i have tried deleting it shift right click but that didn't work.

i used tewakui to hide the cam.cpl that solved the control panel icon

but still the my computer icon -My Digital Camera- is still there.

tried to unistall it by using add/remove program but the there was no listing in the add/remove programs

can sombody help me out?

thanks a load

Have you tried removing the defined camera device in Device Manager?

ive been there already, there is no listing of the device any more suggestions?

thanks again

In Safe Mode, as Administrator, go to Device Manager again, and View, Show all hidden devices.

You need to look under Camera devices, USB devices, and all hard disk and disk controller entries.

tried that remove the device that has a yellow exclamation point named serial but still the my digital camera icon is still there in the my computer folder.

and again thanks for the effort

open notepad and create getridofit.cmd

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
cd\ %SystemRoot% \System32
start devmgmt.msc

FILE|SAVE, and store the file in a convenient directory (folder). Make note of where that is.

Reboot, and enter Safe Mode as administrator.
Open Windows Explorer, (found under START button|PROGRAMS|ACCESSORIES), locate
the file that you saved, and double-click on it. This should bring up the Device Manager window. Click the VIEW menu and click "show hidden devices".

In the list of devices, locate Imaging Devices (if it exists), and click the + sign to the left of that entry.
Remove any not needed devices.

Scroll down to the Universal Serial Bus Controllers tree and click the + sign. Similarly delete all Unrecognized USB Device entries.

If this does not do it, a registry edit will be needed. What bothers me is that will eliminate enumerated devices but the possibility remains that a driver may still be located in c|windows\system32.

Try the above first.

did what you instructed me made the cmd file booted in safe mode, ran the cmd file, deleted unknown devices in thr imaging devices and in the universal serial bus, but the icon is still there. sitting anoyingly in the my computer icon but this time the icon changed its using the icon that windows shows when it cant recognize a file format.

what was that registry that you were talking about?

i really appreciate your help bcastner

Right click on the icon and then properties...write down the name.

Go START/RUN and type in (regedit)no brackets...click ok you are now in the Registry....click Edit on the Toolbar and then FIND...type in what you are looking for...then find next after each search....when you find it , delete it.

A good idea before messing with the registry is to back it up....on the file menu select EXPORT and give it a name so you can find it if you want to bring back what you have done...to do this ,do as above and click IMPORT.

Of course if XP can always do a System Restore,if goes wrong ,hope this all makes sense.

thats the problem coakreb theres no properties listed when you right click the icon, all it display are open, explore and create shortcut

coakerb tried what you said but inputed"my digital camera" on the find field deleted two registry entries that has that name but the my digital camera icon is still there with the icon that windows shows when it doesn't know the file format.

i think i know why i cant delete that icon because it has already linked to the windows explorer tried to surf the internet with it and it did...

word of the wise:

"read reviews before installing softwares/programs"

thanks for all the people who tried to help me with my problem really apreciate it!!!

Ill have to just live with for the mean time what im trying to do know is find where i can download the software so i can study it more

the name of the plug-in is "fotonation explorer version 1.2.7.0"

if anybody knows where i can get that software would be a big help.

Search the registry for the FotoNation registry entries and delete them:
search for the string C56C4E21-706D Delete the key.
search for FotoNation and delete all those registry entries too.
