and the other day i restarted into admin. admin locked up after admin logon. when i restarted the computer i recieved two problems. a error during boot up saying that "cannot determine file system. and lost my mouse. i have tried replace the mouse drivers and usb drivers and hid drivers. i copied it from anouther similiar system. it almost worked but i still get a question mark on the hid(human interface device) and for the boot up problem, i went into safe mode command prompt and did sfc and also chkdsk /f(after restart) this did not fix the problem. I found very hard to extract files from cd or any where else. does anybody know what to do? I'am a technican but my w2k knowledge isn't enough yet....... any help is apreciated

Suggestion, try going back into safe mode, uninstall or remove the from the device manager the usb and and log back in and let it reinstall the USB from scratch. meantime use a ps/2 mouse. After USB is reinstalled, try plugging the usb mouse again. POst what happens
I have the same mouse with W2K, but can offer help; I had no such problem in installing the OS on my system.

You might be able to disable PS2 port in bios. It might be conflicting with USB mouse.
I have also run into a bad USB device and seen very poor startups and weird problems, (this was in w98)unplugged the USB device and computer was back to normal.

heres the thing. the mouse has been working with the computer for over 3 months. Its only when i rebooted into admin and froze after logon and then rebooted from there did this problem show. i have uninstalled it and reinstalled including downloading newer drivers and installing that. I get a device driver with a question mark and it say function driver does not indicate device driver to load.(or somthing like that).
