Okay... So... I've been looking everywhere, and I'm still confused as all of hell.
I'll simply leave it at this...
I have an Athlon 64-FX53 CPU,
and an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard.

WHAT KIND OF MEMORY DO I NEED FOR THIS??

The main confusion comes in when I have to try and select either Registered / Unbuffered and ECC / Non-ECC....

I've made the mistake of getting the wrong type of memory that wasn't on the compatibility list for the motherboard (CMX512RE-3200LL) and... well it wasn't pretty.

The main problem comes in because the CPU has ECC memory... does that mean the RAM does as well? And I honestly haven't the slightest clue as to what Registered/Unbuffered means, but I haven't found any reg'd RAM that's compatible with my motherboard, yet I think the CPU requires that...

OKAY... so... I'm confused. Help would be greatly appreciated...

THANK YOU TEK-TIPS!

shows unbuffered DIMMS.

My last post to you in thread602-1005530 gave you a link to Kingstmn memory for your board:

Cruial Memory would probably work too as it is really Micron memory:

Hit submit before I was done. The carat symbol breaks the AMD link in the previous post.

The manual for your A8V board shows either ECC or non-ECC memory, but in either case, it must be unbuffered.

One buffered memory explanation:

Buffered memory adds one clock cycle to access times. If a board isn't designed with this additional delay in mind, then it would be expecting data faster than it can be delivered, wreaking havoc on data access.

Thanks again for your help, but is it a requirement/limitation by the CPU that can cause this incompatibility as well?

If unbuffered, non-ecc memory will do, then I will probably be getting the Corsiar TWINX1024-3200XLPRO.

Again, thanks for all your help.

The memory controller determines what type of memory can be used.

The Corsair modules you mention are using aggressive timings right out of the box. Hopefully they are compatible with your board.
