I have tried and tried to get this on my own, but I just can't figure it out.

Here's what I have setup:
Domain: egotek.com
Network: Cable coming into lynksys router, going to 1 server and 1 client computer. The server runs everything, domain, IIS, exchange, DNS, DHCP, etc.... I registered the domain at networksolutions.com, don't use it for anything except the registrar and to point it my IP address.

I have the site running from the server (all http requests from the router go to the server IP) and have no probelms with that.
What I want to do is create a subdomain, for example owa.egotek.com. I want to do this from the server, not using any outside aids (dyndns.org, etc...) Right now goes to the egotek.com home page, but that's not what I want it to go to, I want it to go to another directory.

Anyway, I need some help. I'd like to start from scratch, obviously I've screwed it up to get the owa subdomain to go to the main site, hehe. ANY help is appreciated.

You need to setup a host header for the site in IIS,

Load the IIS snap in
Right click the site you want to set owa.egotek.com to
Under website tab, click advanced,
Select the Default connection, then hit edit,
Enter owa.egotek.com into the host header value.
Click ok.

I've set that in IIS, just says "The page cannot be displayed" when I try to go to the address
I'd think that something would need to be set in DNS.

Have you got a CNAME or A record setup for DNS to point to your IP?

Query: owa.egotek.com. Query type: Any record
Recursive query: Yes Authoritative answer: No
Query time: 125 ms. Server name: ns79.worldnic.com

The host or domain "owa.egotek.com." does not exist

I tried with both a CNAME and A record, the most I could get to work was with an A record, but it kept going to the main site. I mean the address said owa.egotek.com, but what displayed was the index from the main site.

I'll setup a CNAME, I just need the one under the domain in DNS right?

oh man! that did it, I just added the CNAME and it worked...well, works internally anyway. Guess I'll need to wait a bit to test it externally so it can replicate, right?

I know I've done this before, actually I was trying everything I could think of so I probably had something else setup that was preventing it from working.

Think it just needs time to replicate?
