How can I do the following:

"change the IIS root directory on your server to point to the Exchange virtual directory"

Im working with our DNS host to point our external exchange IP to a name but my experience with IIS is limited.

I guess I am unsure why you need to do this. I would question the DNS host..

According to them, we have two options:

One recommendation would be to use the existing XXX.com domain. We could create an A record for webmail.XXX.com and point it to the IP of your webmail server. Keep in mind that the DNS record can only point to a server, not a directory on a server. So you have a couple of options.

1. You would use for your email address.

2. You would use and it would require your IT folks to change the IIS root directory on your server to point to the Exchange virtual directory.

Oh i c...

You could also have webmail.xxx.com forward over webmail.xxx.com/exchange

That would cover all of your basis... I think...

1. Log onto the OWA server

2. Open the IIS Manager

3. Open the properties for the default web site

4. Under the Home Directory Tab, do the following
a) Choose redirection to a url
b) Type /exchange in the text box
c) Check the "directory under this one" radio button

5. Click "apply", "OK", and exit the IIS manager.

6. Test the changes by opening a web browser, and connecting to the folder. It should now take you directly to the Exchange Logon screen.
