Ignore this if I have misunderstood your problem.

Is it just one program that has a 640 x 480 resolution or every Window? Are you saying that all your Windows are at that low resolution?

If it was just one program I was wondering if it may have been set via the Compatibility Wizard? "Adjusts the screen resolution to 640 x 480 pixels while this program is running. When you close the program, the screen resolution setting will switch back to your default setting."

How to use the Program Compatibility Wizard in Windows XP

Unlock the Lowest Screen Resolutions and Color Quality

Cannot Change Display Setting to 640 X 480 or 256 Color

I'm doing system customizations on 600+ machines.

I get them, install XP, name them, join the domain, install the company standard apps on it and modify the desktop settings so that all the PCs are te same.

I've automated almost all of the process but for some reason I'm having trouble with the screen resolution changing.
