Hi All:
I just don't know where to turn. I just received a new Call Pilot 3 and a Signaling Service w/ Media Card to be installed on my Succession 4 Option 11. The installer that came out did not know how to do the install and neither is working. I can't find anyone that can help me here. Can anyone help!

Hi,

The installation of what you mention is huge and there are many things that can be wrong. The best thing for you is to call another vendor and make them install it. What isn't working by the way...?

Wish I could find a vendor out here to do it. I just can't find anyone that is knowledgeable about it here in Vegas. THey come out, charge me for a few hours of printing some loads and then say they can't do it.

The signaling server has just the hardware installed and has not been configured. The call pilot is completley set up and programmed but will not come on line. we're getting a MAS communication error when it boots up and then some "BLUE SERVER" error. :) Thanks for responding :)

Check if the ELAN is enabled. Go to LD48, type "stat elan" and post the what you get.

Just went through the installation manual step by step and started from scatch and it still doesn't work. When I stat elan it tells me that it's DOWN DISABLED

I've DIS ELAN and ELNK and ENL'd them again and it just won't grab an IP address...

If the vendor changed the ip adresses of the CallPilot manually via networking on the win2003 system you have a problem. Nortel will then recommend you to reeinstall the entire system. Changing IP adresses should only be done with setup wizard in CallPilotManager.

Can you ping between the Succession and CallPilot?

Have you added a ELAN in ld 17?

i worked in vegas for several years, a lot of the centel (now sprint) techs were very good. who are you using for a vendor? contact the vendor directly, let them know you want someone that knows what they are doing, you should have a project manager for a job that size. that will take someone that knows what they are doing at least a couple of days. the vendor MUST provide a certified tech, and/or an sc, they are risking their partnership by sending non-qualified techs to your site. most companies have in house tech support for installs that are not a drop in. i don't know how many vendors you have in vegas, but i would contact nortel, you shouldn't be in this shape. my (small) work group of a dozen or so people has at least 8, if ot more techs that could do that install, and your in a city 4 times the size of columbia.

give shared technologies a call, i know they can install it. we have offices nation wide.

i2007: I can ping from both machines and they see each other fine, but Call Pilot won't start up. All of the other programming is exactly as you have it in your post.

johnpooole: All of the Centel people are now working at the major hotel's that have 81's. I've contacted several of them and they won't do any work outside of Centel or the hotel. I contacted EVERY phone vendor in phone book and most do not work on Options - most are Norstar people. The few that work on options can do some basic MAC's. here is one of the many e-mails that I received from the vendors here:

"I can do MAC's as long as you can do the programming.
You man email at xxxxx.com &/or fax me the work order to 702-396-xxxx.
I charge $82.50 the first hour & $55.00 thereafter.
Let me know if I can help in that manner."

The distributor I purchased the equipment through is in Texas, all the equipment was shipped here and the only company they have that is "Nortel Certfied' couldn't do the job and left me in this position. I called their emergency service number last night and was put on a conference call with my Project Manager and the Service Manager and was told that the only other solution they could come up with for me would be to either try to contact nortel and have their tech department talk me through the install on the phone or have one of the people that work for them do the same thing. THIS IS INSANE!

$55,000 later, I'm installing my own equipment.

if the people couldn´t going your site, why you don´t try remote support from anyone in this forum.

i would go to centel directly and have them send a installer out. might be a little pricey but at least you can get local support

local support ever is better that remote support, but think in this option also in case that you don´t have local support.

John I tried that.. I called Kevin the Ops Manager at Centel and Mr. Owens, the Western Regional Director, and they won't send anyone out to work on equipment that was not purchased through them. It's nuts!

This people really is nuts. One good service company don´t must consider this point for your clients or other requesting service.

I didn't save any money on this at all. Money is not the problem. We paid these people more than an average install for this. I don't care about the cost, I just care about the CP and Sig Server getting up and working. Still -- no one is willing to take on this project here. But I haven't lost hope yet :)

On top of all that.. I went through Centel originally to get my phone switch, they first tried to talk me out of an option and put me on Digital Centrex, when I told them no to that, they wanted me to put in a MICS system and I told them it had to be an option, and they told me they no longer sell options- that ended when Centel Business Service on West Sahara closed.

As John Poole suggested, I would call Nortel directly. They really need to intervene. If your VAR sold you these products and they were supposed to install them, "I don't know how" is simply not something they can say to you if it is their responsibility.

If, for whatever reason, the VAR doesn't have the needed expertise to get that installed, it's still their responsibility to find someone with that expertise to finish the installation, and it needs to be at their expense.

When you purchased these products, was there a clear understanding that the VAR was responsible for installation?

Absolutely... The installation was included in the price quote. However, nothing is happening ;) I'll just keep my fingers crossed.... If anyone hears of someone in Las Vegas that can do this install... Please let know :)

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL OF YOUR INPUT AND HELP!!!

This really irritates the he** out of me. If they are supposed to install then it is their responsibility to find another installer, period! If they have to fly someone from Texas to Vegas to do the installation then so be it!!

If this were me, I would on the phone with that company and I'd go all the way to the top of the ladder and complain directly to the President or CEO, or whoever, and I would demand that they resolve this immediately.

I would also call Nortel directly and explain your situation. They can put some pressure on this VAR for you, in addition to the pressure that you need to apply, and they can also help you to find an installer in Vegas if necessary.

I know a few people at Nortel that are fairly high up in this region. I'll check with them to see if they can help you out.
