Gentlemen and maybe ladies,

Here is the issue I have tasked for me:

Manager says, "We need an extension that when our workers call in, they can enter "101" and leave a message saying who they are, where they work and why they arent going to be there that day. Is it possible without tying up a physical phone?"

My answer was, I think so. I know you can set up extension and their properties via the admin programming from a phone and Im sure there is a way to do the above but Im not sure if it is as easy as picking a nonused extension and setting it up. For one, how would you check its mailbox? Can you Feature 981 and then enter an extension to check it? Do you have to set up a tree to get it to forward to another existing mailbox?

Thanks for all input cause Im not sure where to start.

Has to be done via web browser interface then modify the class of service. Mailbox admin, class of service.

This thing has a web browser interface? That would have been handy as opposed to learning the programming on a phone, but oh well more knowledge isnt a bad thing.

Is there a utility, default IP, or something in the docs to point me to it. I have a couple Norstar guides and I never saw this mentioned.

Thanks again for helping a tele noob.

Use a crossover cable and use your IE browser/192.168.110.10 and log in.

This still kinda applies to the situation if anyone gets time to tell me a yes or no.

If I'm calling in from an outside line and enter the EXT 101(our Sick Leave Mailbox), it takes you to the recorded greeting and then beeps to leave a message. Is there any way from the outside to access that mailbox like hitting the # key does for Verizon Wireless mailboxes?

I tried #, *, and 9 all which just skipped the prerecorded message and let me save a message.

If it cant be done, oh well. If it can then its another thing I can check off the list that management wants to know about.

To acces mailbox from outside line when in main menu press **, follow instructions.

Spot on once again, thanks iron. allworxguy, AA is set to Y but ## doesnt work.

Curly, if I have to enter the ext #, dont I already know it? Would I need to use the F985 to find it?

Sorry I posted in error so disregard.
External per above

Internally you can use F981 or call the DN of vmail, and yes F985 to see what the DN is. This DN is also used for your Call Forward No Answer setting.
