NEC SL1100/2100 End of Life??

Don't know about the US/Canada but here in OZ the 2100 is an ongoing product with no end of life date predicted. 1100 is end of support but they have just launched a firmware version for the 2100 that allows the use of 1100 handsets so it is just a main unit replacement to upgrade. I didn't notice any limitations on the 1100 handsets on a 2100 system (did one 2 weeks ago. Your question though seems to have things the wrong way round as you can't use 2100 handsets on the older 1100 system
