The admin mailbox recieves a fair few NDRs daily.
Whilst ploughing through them today, (logged on as administrator) I came across 3 or 4 that behaved oddly.
When double clicking to open, I get the message "Can't open this item. You dont have appropriate permissions to perform the operation. The email then shows up as read. (ie bold disappears)
When right clicking to view options, nothing happens.
When hard deleting (shift + Delete) I get the following message "You don't have the appropriate permissions to perform this operation"
When soft deleting to deleted items folder, I get the following "The item may not have been deleted correctly. If someone sent you the item, that persons copy of the item may not be updated. You dont have the appropriate permission to perform this operation"
I have never come across this before today.
1. Has the Administrator's account been compromised ?
2. Has something on the exchange server become corrupted
3. Do I have a virus somewhere (ALL pc's & servers are patched and signatured up to date) ?
4. Most importantly, what do you recommend I do about this, If anything ? Any pointers anyone ?
Thanks in advance
Paul
