Hi Everyone,
I've a problem with HP Photosmart 2610N that I try to use with NDPS (nw6.5).
I get this error message : LPR connection failed.
I ran the HP download manager with the latest firmware updates and it says that the firmware is N/A and that it is not upgradable.
This printer works perfectly when using direct IPport.
Please Help.
Thx

Are you using the Novell gateway or the HP gateway? I've had much better luck with the Novell.

I allways use novell lpr/ip gateway with passthrough. I tried to rename with 'text' as in TID 10080373 but without any success.

If you're using the Novell Gateway, you may need to change the LPR Queue name to something other than PASSTHROUGH. Some HP Printers work with 'PASSTHROUGH' and some don't. And you may have better luck if you setup the printer through iManager rather than NWADMIN. Your printer DOC's probably tell you what name to use. just look for LPR QUEUE name. Or see if this TID has it:
On the flipside, I've had some cases where I couldn't make it work no matter what with the Novell Gateway and LPR, so I used the HP Gateway and that took care of it. This generally applies to older printers and I try to only do it if absolutely necessary.

Might try "print" as the queue name. Personally I prefer NWAdmin, but Marv is right, try the HP gateway.

We use only the Novell gateway here after having abends in the HP gateway and with HP no longer supporting it.. that seemed like the writing on the wall for us.

Our HP printers here like "raw" as opposed to passthrough. That TID that Marvin & lauw mention was a lifesaver for us a year ago when we were putting in Netware 6.5 I had a single HP LJ5si/mx that never did deal with either gateway properly and would only print reliably via iPrint (direct IP) and even then it would wierd things randomly (just print gridlines on an excel spreadsheet, etc) so I replaced it with a newer printer.
