Does anyone use NB Advanced Reporter?? Putting the cost to one side, is it any good??
A couple of features appeal to me - recording tape unit throughput and the 'clients at risk' option, but do they really report accurately?

Thanks

I don't, don't know anything about NBAR, but would hazard a guess that it's just a bunch of consulted scripts (isn't that all vault consists of ?); i don't go looking for features for stuff like this personally, as there's nothing we can't report on/solve, using just the output from standard netbackup commands. The rest is heavily scripted from netbackup commands

I have used it but do not do so any longer because of multiple issues.

- The clients at risk report is a joke. The report will show a client at risk if any client in that same policy has a failure. I called Veritas and asked about it and they said that yes it is by design.
- Our catalog is about 150GB and when the loader process runs it really bogged our 8GB, quad 3Ghz server down. The process would take longer and longer. After it started taking 8hrs to load I decided to scrap it. We are evaluating a software product from Bocada called Backup report. It looks better but it does not support in-line tape copy currently.
- The media reports never seemed to match up with what was in the Netbackup reports screen.
- No customization is available other than resizing rows and such.

The presentation is great at first until you start digging into it. In other words the Veritas glossys are really pretty but the functionality isn't there yet. Also they are discontinuing this product in favor of Command Central.

Advanced Reporter is expensive eye candy that tastes like ....

That's my personal oponion...
