In the ds1 form there is an entry for protocol. Does "a" stand for national and "b" for custom? Or is it the other way around?

A is an AT&T Custome Protocol
B is for NI2 also a custom protocol

If the vendor says National, then use Protocol Version B. (This is standard created by Telcordia)

If the Vendor says Custom, ask if it is 5ESS/AT&T/Lucent Custom (Use A) or DMS 100/250/Nortel Custom (Use C).

More details below. Probable to much info.

For USA Only.

Quick Note on Supplementary Service Protocol.

The Protocol Version on the DS1 Page and the Supplementary Service Protocol on the Signal Group and Trunk Group Pages are not the same protocols.

The Supplementary Service Protocol on the Trunk Group Page has additional options.
