Hello all
I am installing a CS 1000E system fully voip. All of the Tlan addresses are a private. The phones are going to be installed across a MAN connection. The IS group is providing NAT converting the private ip address into public addresses, and visa versa. The problem I am having is when I try to register an ip phone accross the MAN I am entering the NAT addresses (public) that corilate to the private address. The phone then comes back and asks for the node id and the tn. When I enter that it comes right back and says server unreachable. I captured the ip traffic with ethereal and it appears that when the node id and tn are entered the signaling server sends the ip address to the phone for tps registration. The problem is that it sends the private ip of the signaling server. Does anyone know how to set up the Network address translation in element manager. Also this is a 4.5 system.

Thanks for any help

The only thing I know of is the echo server you can type in somewhere in element manager. The echo server is something that can tell the system who can translate adresses. I have not used it. I would rather set up the T-Lan with public ip adresses. Saves me a lot of time spent investigating NAT problems.

I agree I2007 but you should better to use a routing between T-LAN and Voice LAN that Nortel recommend to be separated. That way IP sets will be in a specific LAN, reachable to DHCP, and routed to the T-LAN.
IP to IP call traffic will stay in that LAN. IP to TDM will cross T-LAN to reach CS. In a large system as 1000E, you will reduce traffic in T-LAN for all internal calls and keep bandwith avaliable for signalling and IP to TDM
