I am configuring NAT and DHCP on a Cisco 2620. I want to be able to remotely access switches on the private network but have public IP addresses. How do I map the switch Ip addresses which are public to the outside interface?

The easiest way would be to add a static NAT statement on the router which maps to your switch IP mgmt address in the format as follows:

ip nat inside source static <switch ip addr> <nat ip addr>

Then apply ip nat outside to your WAN interface and ip nat inside to your LAN interface connecting to your switch.

To telnet to the switch remotely, use the outside nat address.

Thanks Makani. So I would change my switches to private static addresses, exclude these addresses from the DHCP pool? Do I also exclude these static private ip from the NAT pool?

Yes, All Routers, switches, and Servers Should have Static IP Addresses. Yes, Use ip addresses outside of the address pool.

On a Class C, i typicaly do this..

0 Broadcast
1 - 10 Routers
11- 20 Switches
21- 30 Servers
31- 100 Reserved For Whatever
101-200 DHCP Scope
200-255 Printers, Misc IP devices

Hope this Helps
