I've got a NAM that I just rebooted and now keeps coming up with 1762 Configuration has changed followed by another line 162 Configuration has changed.

After numerous reboots, it's still there. Even an F1 to go into settings (BIOS) is not helpful as it wont even go to that screen. It is a V3G NAM. I've disconnected everything, fiber DS30, mouse, KB, etc. but it still just keeps erroring out and rebooting. Any ideas?

NAM will not complete bootup without being connected to a compatible Norstar

I'm assuming you are looking at these messages on the monitor - What are you trying to do with this NAM?

It is/was/is connected to a Norstar. It is used for Cinphony ACD. It was working fine until I had to reboot it to reroute some KVM cables. All cables back in but still no go.

That indicates a hardware change. Make sure all cards are secure in the NAM and reconnect the mouse, keyboard and monitor. Also check the dongle in the printer port to make sure it's secure.

Brian...

That was my first guess that a card was loose, so I checked both cards (PC & Fiber) both are in good. I also checked HDD cables, FDD cables and even removed replaced Cintech dongle. Any other ideas, or is this NAM just shot?

Just for gits and shiggles I even swapped out the SBC with another from a spare NAM, same thing. I really cant believe this is hardware failure, but....

When shutting down the NAM, I was positive to do the graceful option from the Access menu.

Thanks for the suggestions, please keep them coming.

Check the BIOS settings. I think you press F1 when the memory test starts. Look at the start settings and make sure keyboardless operation is set to Y. Boot order should be A (floppy) first, C (hard disk) second. If you see a set of 9 dip switches on the SBC 1-3 are up, 4-7 are down, and 8-9 are up. Look through the other BIOS settings to see if anything else looks wrong.

if it is an ACD - you need to have the backup set connected (but that is after the hardware is ok)
Check if the RAM is intact

Heres the wierd thing guys....

During POST, I press F1 and the prompt goes away like it should, but instead of the BIOS screen, I get the error.

So, it seems I cannot get into BIOS (strange?). I will double check the dip switches soon.

Thanks again, keep the ideas coming.

Hmmm, bad RAM....never thought of that. I'll give it a try.

Thanks again.

Update: When I disconnect the HDD I am able to get into the BIOS. I verified the settings and all look good. (Keyboardless enabled, etc.)

When I hook the HDD back up, the errors return. So, I guess something is hosed with the HDD or the filesystem. Any ideas from here?

BTW, a RAM swap proved fruitless as well. I have the original Cintech Cinphony kit with disks and all, so maybe I just need to reload Cinphony.

Brian, if I choose to reload Cinphony, will my ACCESS subsystem still be intact?

Thanks again for the input all!

Sounds like the boot sector of the hard disk is damaged, so it is a goner. You'll need to buy a replacement hard disk with the voicemail software loaded for a V3G, and then you'll have to reload the Cinphony software using a Backpack CD-ROM. I would consider getting a Call Pilot with Call Center instead.

Okay, I will see what I can do about getting another HDD. Thanks for all the insight. I'll repost if anything new comes up.

OK, I scavenged another NAM from the shelf of an old location and it boots fine. However, it already has Voice Mail on it, but no Cinphony. I can reinstall the Cinphony no sweat, but would like to uninstall the VM side so there are no conflicts with the VM residing on the other NAM. I would like to run 2 separate NAMs to keep the call load balanced so any one NAM is not bombarded with call traffic. Are there any established steps for removing the VM from a NAM so I can install the Cinphony only on this NAM?

Thanks.

In case you dont know...
NAM not supported by Nortel anymore.
Cinphony requires a maintaence contract with Cintech for support.

What kind of loads? how many agents and voice mail box users?

For removal maybe through OS warp desktop or F983 back door codes.

Call Pilot is nice!
