my website won't work locally 1

I’m running SBS 2003 Premium in the following setup:

Static IP/Internet -> Firewall -> Switch -> Server and Stations

With this box I’m hosting few internet domain names. These domain names have my Static IP address listed with their registrar as their DNS1 and DNS2. The problem I currently have is that I can’t access to these domain names via browser from my local network but they all are functional from outside. I looked over my Forwarders/Pointers settings under my DNS and didn’t find anything unusual.

Another thing I would like to mention is when I ping these websites from my local network it resolve my public address.

Please note that I only use one NIC with this system.

Any guidance will be highly appreciated.

how is your firewall set up?

ours is sim. our web server is set up and assigned a local ip, through the firewall we have the NAT set up (outside ip -to- inside ip) and the DNS is set to point at the outside ip. our fire wall will not let us look at the outside ip (will not let us look out and come right back in again) we must use the internal ip in the url while inside the firewall........

I would use the hosts file, located (if using win xp pro) at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

Open a command prompt from the start menu, then type 'Edit \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts press enter

The hosts file will open ready for editing, move the cursor to the line under where it shows:-

127.0.0.1 Localhost

Then type xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx website.name

If your website name is

http://www.mysite.com,

and your ip address is 145.59.63.2 then the hosts line would like this:-

127.0.0.1 Localhost
145.59.63.2

http://www.mysite.com

Press ctrl+x to save and exit, type exit to return to windows, then try your

http://www address

in internet explorer, the computer will look at the hosts file, then match the http request from your browser to the ip address.

I use it to test my website additions before putting the server online.
