My system keeps shutting down without any warning. Why?

My system is shutting down. I'm working and it will shut down for no reason. Any ideas???

It might be a hardware, rather than a W2K-specific problem. I've been having a similar problem with W98, and it looks like it's down to having the processor (Athlon 1.4) running too hot. To check for this, if your motherboard has temperature monitors on it, use something like ( to check it. If you keep getting the problem when the processor has been running a long time, or is under heavy load, you may have to invest in some cooling hardware.
 
thanks guys. The threads that PAnderson has sent are helpful and so is to know that that Athlon 1.4 shuts down when hot(that's what I have). I thought that is simply sends a warning, which I get from time to time.
