MY sound echos in windows xp

On sunday my sound was fine, but today on monday i started to here a echo coming from ALL my sounds, the windows xp sounds, my music... and my games sound, its like all the sounds i here come outta my speakers ECHOS

i plugged my headphones in, still echoed and i plugged my speakers in and it still echoed... could this be from my soundcard breaking down??

i just got this computer...so it shoodnt break alreadY!!

I had the exact thing happen to my machine just 2 days ago. I uhad uninstall the sound drivers / reboot reinstall and go to the update site to download updated drivers. That fixed the issue.

As it has just happened it might be worth using System Restore to go back a couple of restore points to see if that fixes it.

Just wondering if you have the AC97 intergrated sound card. Because if you do then with a driver update a little program called soundman gets loaded and allows various sound effects, and can sometimes be acciedentally set to hall, or cave or what have you. You will find this prog under control panel and you can change the cound effects here. &quot;Use sound effect <None>&quot; This may save you a driver re-install. :0
