Hi, im making a windows 2000 server to run about 5 computers. The layout is the 5 computers and the server are currently connected to a dlink wireless router then connected to a cable modem. How should I set up my DHCP and DNS Server. all clients are currently running off of 192.168.0.1, which is the router. Should i have a direct link from the cable modem to the server then to the router. How should i set my network up. Thanks

I would just connect both the router and the server and clients to either a hub or switch. You can see what the scope is in your router, usually only part of the actual subnet. Then in your server extend the range. Router DHCP: 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.50 and your server DHCP: 192.168.0.51-192.168.0.100. Edit the scope of the router DHCP to hand out your server address for DNS as it probably hands out your ISP DSN which is good for the net, but won't let you see your internal network by name...
