Hello- I have a new motherboard, an ECS p41ta,atx,w/socket 423&Intel 850 chipset. It's only 4 months old and I'm about to install my 3rd battery. I get the checksum error-defaults loaded- you know f1 to continue etc.,etc.My date then reads jan 1,2000 or 2001 and wants me to set the clock. At first I figured the motherboard was shipped with a weak battery but now that my recently bought and tested battery went bad in 2 months- WHAT'S UP?.I have a p4 1.7 chip and have Award Software-1984-2001 v6.00pg- Can anyone help?-lou

There will be a jumper on your motherboard that is used to clear the CMOS. This jumper may be installed wrong. Check your MB documents to see how to check it. If this is not the case, then you could have a bad BIOS or CMOS chip. Go to your MB manufacturers web site and see if there have been problems.

Good Luck!
