I am running sbs2000 with exchange 2000. Configured, I have symantec corperate edition 8.0 and symantec mail security for exchange. I am getting extremely long delays on e-mail being recieved by the server. keep in mind that people are e-mailing me from all different parts of the world(china, hong kong). Anyone who e-mails me from the united states I recieve with no problems or no delays. Is there a reason why this is occuring? Can someone please help me out with this one? I greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
:)

Email delivery isn't immediate. Some hosts take minutes to deliver mail while others are nearly instantaneous. Too many variables, but it sounds like yours is acting normal.

You server is acting fine, there will be delays from outside the company.

Guys thanks for your help, but how long of a delay is considered that the exchange is working fine?

Thanks

no longer than 5 Minutes is expectable.

The Matrix Has you !

You can't determine how long is "normal", because it also is dependant upon the senders email server.

While five minutes may seem a normal time, I've had email from Hotmail take hours to arrive. Is this "normal"? No, but it just shows that there really is no "normal". As long as it arrives, then your server is working properly.

Only if the email is sent back to the recipient or you know for a fact that no mail is arriving within your server are you assured of a problem.

Act up? Isn't that a lobbying group based out of Washington DC?

It's hard to say what the issue is, or if there even is an issue, from the information you provided. The first step would be to collect some data. You might try turning up the SMTP and categorizer logging, then loogin in your application log.
