Greetings all.

I have been working on the problem for a few weeks now. I have a user on the network (win2k server with exchange2k) wich cannot send an email to a specific domain. We can recieve their mail, but not send. I can telnet the message through. I beleave have found that my server is not using the right MX-record for the domain. The company have 2 records: MX 10 that is blocking all traffic on port 25 and MX 100 that allows traffic on port 25. My server is trying on MX 10 but NOT trying on MX 100.

Anyone know why my server isnt trying on MX 100 and how i make it do so?

Thanks in advance!

Hi again

I found what was wrong and gonna share it with you. The scenario was that there were just one company i couldnt send emails to. I fixed this by defining a 'smarthost' under exchange system manager --> exchange --> Servers --> [exchangeserver] --> protocols --> SMTP --> Default SMTP virtual server --> rightclick --> properties --> Tab: Delivery --> Advanced. Ask your ISP what the smarthost is and enter it here. Didnt work if I marked the "Attempt Direct delivery..."

Case closed :)

or you could have setup a dns/host entry pointing to that mx100 instead of the mx10 on your exchange or firewall. but I guess using your isp for DNS will prevent future probs

I would do so, but i simply never found out how I do that. While searching the web for that i ran over the solution with the smartserver wich worked.

I even tried using the DNS of another ISP and that didnt work either. Im relatively sure that pointed to their mx100 but no luck.

I still have to find out how to directly change the pointer from one mx to another.
