MMagix R2w/Merlin Messaging 2.0:
Two 4406+ extensions have MWI lit and do not have voice mail boxes assigned.
All other extentions with or without VM work properly.
How do I extinguish the MWI on these two exts?
The solution to this oldie but goodie has eluded me.
Thanks!

do they have a menu button? on the 4412 you could go into the menu and then message and turn it off. I think you can do it from the operator as well.

Press SPKR, and get an internal dial tone (on an SA button)

Dial #54 to read the message
Dial #26 to delete the message
Dial #54 again to leave the read message mode

Thanks TouchToneTommy,
Here's the result:

Press SPKR, and get an internal dial tone (on an SA button)
Dial #54 to read the message
display= *Call VMS Ext770 (MWI lit)
Dial #26 to delete the message
display= *Call VMS Ext770 (no apparent change)(MWI stays lit)
Dial #54 again to leave the read message mode
display clears, MWI remains lit

For kicks, I went ahead and dialed into MerMessVM(770), dial MB of extension(7017#)= "Invalid Entry"

Thanks Kwing112000: no menu button on 4406D+ :(

The lamp is probably lit because of a message sent by a co-worker. Easiest to remove it at the Operator Console. When there - press intercom, #38 and then enter the extention number of the 4406 phone. That should do it.

Thanks Tom,

At Operator, #38, enter ext number:7017
oper display=msg sent
At ext7017, dial #54,display= *CALL OPER (MWI lit)
dial #26, display=*Call VMS Ext770 (VMI lit)
again
dial #26, display=*Call VMS Ext770 (VMI lit)

Try it again - it should show "msg removed".

Well - it sounds like ther are multiple messages in that extentions voicemail. Follow TouchToneTommy's guide: Dial intercom #54 at the 4406, then dial #26 repeatedly until you see "No Messages" then dial #54 again to exit Messaging mode

Ok this morning went ahead and did Tom's and TTT steps of repeating #26 until "no messages".
Well I did #54: "*CAL VMS ext770" then: #26#26#26#26#26 until it timed out. I went on hook then off hook and repeated the #26 sequence until time out. then repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. NO joke, hit #26 about 50+ times. The display didn't flinch, blink, fade or otherwise show any reaction to the delete msg command #26.
Also I noticed (finally), The day/time stamp remains at "May 17 3:01p"
So, The display and MWI(lit) remain unchanged.

Try plugging a different 4406D+ in that extention - and try the removal steps. Maybe you have a defective phone.

Temporarily swap it for a 4412 or 24 - then you can use the buttons under the display to manage the messages, swap back to the 4406 when done.

Thanks Tom,
No Joy. I placed a known good 4406D+ at the extensions on question with the same results...no change on the MWI or in message dispalyed in mode.
History of these two extensions, they were configured with MMess VMB. The seats were vacated so in MMess I deleted the mailbox extensions and made them transfer-only extensions. The MWI/display message remained on these two extensions.
So, I just deleted the ext in MMess, assigned a maibox to the extention, checked the inbox verifying no messages.
-MWI and display are clear at the extension.
Now I have deleted the mailbox, assigned transfer only to the ext. and: The MWI and displayed message have remained cleared.
Must have been a stuck bit in MMess from when I blew a way the mailbox way back when.
Thanks for all the assistance from Tom D,TouchToneTommy and KWing112000.
As they say in the Navy: "Secure from Drill, Restow all gear. Now man the normal underway watch."
