Hi Guys,

Need a hand with getting my 96xx ip phones backup/restore to work with MV_IPTel, The phone upgrades are working just fine but the backups are not!

Does a phone automatically get backed up when a contact is added?

Please see me .INI file below:

I have set my 46xx Settings file as follows:

SET SNMPSTRING public
SET BRURI SET BRAUTH 0

As far as i can see nothing else needs to be configured.

Any help appriciated.

If I remember correctly, you have to disable (untick): use SNMP for FTP store/retreive verification (under General, right side)

Hi VanZenden.

I already have that unticked but still no joy!

I cannot even see the backups taking place in the logs, if the handset already has contacts added does it automatically backup or do you need to manually backup?

On firmware version 1.5 you have the 'manual backup' option under advanced options (i think) along with automatic gain control but with firmware version 2.0 there is no 'manual backup' option!!

How can the backups take place without this option? automatically when a contact is added? once a reboot has taken place?

any suggestions welcomed!!

edit your ini file. Then start and stop MVIPTEL. Remove the # from the following 2 lines.

Params=-v2c -cpublic
SNMPPARAMS=-v2c -mall -cpublic

For security purposes you should not use public. Change that to any other word.

Hi Phoneguy55,

Will these changes make the backups work or are they purely for security reasons?

thanks

I had to make the same changes to get mine to work. Works like a champ now.I even changed my BRURI to work with https as well.

both. you need to edit the ini file for backups to work. If you want to be secure change everything "public" to some other word.

Not sure what im doing wrong then because mine does not work!

From windows explorer i cannot seem to search but my upgrades are still working!

how can you turn this on make it respond??

Under SNMP:
Change UseSNMP=1

Look in your MV_IPTel.log it will tell you alot.

If that doen't work we can get you going with https.

If you want to backup via HTTPS here ya go.

Hi Guys,

Thnaks for all responses.

It seems that this issue was down to the fact that the IP Phones were running version 2.0 firmware as once i downgraded them to 1.5 the backups worked straight away!

Has anybody else had problems with that level of firmware?

again thanks for all the responses.
