I'm not sure if this is possible, but does anyone have any idea if you can mute the volume control using vbs in Windows 98? If so how?

My wife uses a 98 box at work and the volume icon does not show in the lower right hand screen, and when she tries to open it from the Entertainment menu, it doesn't do anything.

Hello gizzy17,

This would be off-topic. Click out Control Panel then Sound and Audio Devices. On the Sound tab, there is a checkbox in the lower left part Place Volume Icon in Taskbar. After checking it, does it show?

She says that it is checked, but it is grayed out.

tsuji,

I have sent the link to my wife and hope it works, thanks for your help.

By the way, as I was looking for a solution using vbs, this thread was not off topic.
