I have several users who want to listen to music on hold on their 6416D+ sets. Is there a way to do this without calling yourself & holding? It's a v10 Definity.
It's beyond me to understand craving Muzak, but a customer's a customer!
Any suggestions?

Write a vector.

01 Wait 999 Sec Hearing Music
02 GOTO step 1 if unconditionally.

The user's can then dial the VDN to get uninterupted music.

Have you tried to burn the CD and give it to them as a christmas present????

Just a thought. A VDN is also a good way to test volume and clarity.

You can also setup a Facility test call to the music on hold port, and create an abbreviated dial button to it, for them...

How do you do a facility test call?

The pbx is set up on the idea that the phones are going to be used on a occasional basis, not for music. There are only so many time slots and if everyone is listening to music all the time slots are going to be taken up and no one will be able to take a call. I would suggest a small radio for the users that they could bring in from home. But many companies specifically forbid this for very good reasons, as you always have someone that turns the radio up too loud. In fact we had trouble with employees taking up all the intranet bandwith because they wanted to listen to internet newscasts and music using their pc speakers.
I would never give anyone permissions to "facility test call" except when testing a problem, then I turn off the permissions. Toll fraud and other nightmares result with people having "facility test calls" permissions.

You dial the facility test call feature code located on page 2 of you "change feature" form. Then you put in the port of the trunk you want. carrier a, b, c are represented as 1, 2, 3, etc. Port 02A0501 would be 0210501.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm using the vdn, and only those 3 or 4 users know of it's existence, so I don't see a resource problem.
