Having problems with music on hold with a version 6 si.The music will play if the call is an internal call but not on an external can anyone help

You have enabled music and entered the analogue box on the system features? It may be that you need a device called a barrier box. This box stops the CD player/music source from burning out and also regulates the current between the PBX and peripheral.

i have not put the barrier box on as i am using a redifussion player and it works ok on internal calls.
If i setup a vector with the first point saying wait 10 secs
hearing music the music will play to the caller but not if an external call comes in and put on hold .
Please help this is driving me mad
Thanks
Tony

Music/tone on Hold needs to have music and a port number assigned which I believe you should have. Heres the one to check - Music (or silence) on transferred trunk calls? this needs to be set to all. This is on the change system-parametres features page 1 half way down.

i have setup the music port and put music or silence on transferred calls to all but it still does not work

Is the external call routed to a vdn/station? check the cor (Hear System Music on Hold?)...

The cor for the trunk is 1 and the staions are cor 1 and hear system music on hold is set to yes but it still does not work

Try changing the analoge port that the music on hold is connected to - remember to change the port on the system features.

i have tried it on several different alog ports and also
a trunk on an aux trunk card but it is still the same
HELP!!!

How is your music device connected to the PBX? Main distribution frame or RJ45 to a analog patch pannel?

Change the music to tone on the sytem features form then call on an external line and put the call on hold if you get a tone then I would suggest the problem lies with your music device either get a barrier box or call the supplier to see if it is compliant with the definity. Have a good weekend.

The music source is connected via a 110 at&t frame .if i change it to tone on the system features screen i do not get a tone on external calls but i do on internal.

Check the COR on the bottom left of page 1 there is a field

Hear System Music on Hold? y

is this field set to yes on the station that you are testing the music on?

yes it is set to yes and i have made the trunk and extension the same cor .When i change it to tone instead of music i am not even getting the tone .I am going to try a system reset 2 night and see if that makes any difference
Thanks

Can you add a station type 2500 and assign the music on hold port to this station. Can you hear the music when you dial this number internally and externally?

I have managed to find the problem. On the incoming trunk group page 2 there is a feild called data restriction and this was set to yes instead of no and this will stop all tones on that trunk such as call waiting tone and of course
MUSIC.
Thanks for your help
I will remember in future
