Hello,
after some problems with our CD-Players we decide to change the soure for our Music on Hold. Now the question: Is it possible to use the AUDIX to store a music track on it AND define it as a Music-Source Port? Can I loop the music?

When it doesn´t work, I prefer to use a soundcard and MP3- files. Has anyone tips or tricks for these second solution?

thx a lot

You could look at the new TN2501 announcement board for the Definity that would give you the capability to upload wav files to the board and play them via vector step:

queue call
anouncement XXXX

or

set up an analog port that is tied to an audio-out source from a PC or music device and use the vector command
wait-time x sec hearing port XXAYYYY

Also you can use this analog port in the system features form for music on hold. You may need a coupler or amplify the analog device to produce the output to drive this analog port though.

A far as the voicemail. I do not think there is a way without hearing system prompt "transfering call" every once and a while.

Thanks for the tip, but can I use the Announcementboard for music on hold (without vectoring, as example like transfer-calling)? Can I use the Announcements Port Adress like XXAYYzz with "zz" for the number of the "music-announcement" (wave-file)? But what happens when the the file ends? Does it loops automatically?

Greetings

Heiko

No, not without vectoring.

You could use a Bogen music on hold tape player and record the track on a standard tape. The Bogen player will read the tape information and store it for repeat operation. It can be attached to an analog port or an aux trunk port on your system and be added in the system features form.

Better yet look at "Please hold Canada" or one of these other source companies who can custom taylor your "music on hold" and provide Marketing on hold information instead with music in the background.

This service is alot better than a simple music track and Marketing can be presented to your target audience while they are holding.

Also they upload the information to your digital announcement box seasonally or as you change your business marketing plans. Which ever you specify to them.

The 2501AP is nice. Once you have recorded your music (or uploaded a wave file across the LAN), I find the best way of controlling music is with the vector command 'wait'

EX:

03 wait-time 30 seconds hearing XXXX then continue

XXXX is announcement extension for your music source. You can keep looping the same 30 second music recording by either duplicating the programming line or going back to that vector step.

03 wait-time 30 seconds hearing XXXX then continue
04 check split X if available-agents > 0
05 goto step 03
