MUP.SYS Hang

We have a machine that just had windows XP Pro installed on it. When the computer reboots the blue bar makes two trips around and hangs. We rebooted in safe mode and got a mup.sys error. I searched around the net a little and could not find a solution. Can anyone help on this? Thanks for all help.

Poor Mup.sys, as it is the last shown device before XP enters protected mode.

It is very unlikely it is the source of your problem.

Try leaving the computer alone for a while. I had a computer that hung at mup.sys. turned out when it got to mup.sys all I had to do was be patient and wait a minute then it finished booting and I was able to get onto it. Although I only got the error in safe mode. Not on a regular startup.
