We have just installed 3 windows 2000 servers and made various HP networked printers available (SHARED)through the 2000 servers.

Everywhere was printing fine then suddenly ALL AVAILABLE SHARED printers started to print non stop "garbled" text analogous with an incorrect printer driver scenario.

All workstations are running Win 98.
Has anyone seen this before ? We have taken to using Jet Direct and have UNSHARED the printers.

Many Thanks in Advance
Martin

Only time I've seen this is when using Acrobat Reader. I don't recall which version, but it would print out gibberish (chinese like chars) and it had something to do with the way the PDF was made. The only solution we found was to select "Print as Image" when printing the PDFs. This may not be your case, but every bit of info may help.

How current is your anti virus software? Check for bugbear on your network.
Garbled print on shared printers is a symptom of a bugbear infection.

Electricity is actually made up of extremely tiny particles called electrons, that you cannot see with the naked eye unless you have been drinking.
