Hi folks

Major headache rebuilding a system for someone. It's a very old Packard Bell that I'm attempting to make more stable by avoiding the image that came with it.

Unfortunately, one of the things that was built into that image was Quicken 98. The owner of the system has since bought a more recent version of Quicken (2003 I believe) which is installed on another machine but has been unable to load the old Quicken 98 files into it. So she wants me to have Quicken 98 on this system when I'm done rebuilding it.

Since I have no install disks for Quicken 98, I'd rather just get a good file converter to bring it from 98 to a more recent version. Does such a program exist and if so, does it work well and where can I obtain it?

Thanks in advance

Is there a link to an actual converter program in there that I'm missing because that's what I need.

I am aware of what Quicken 2003 CAN do, but as I did say, the client tried to do it already and it didn't work, which is why I wanted to do it myself and hand her 2003 files from her 98 ones.

So, is there a converter program or method out there I can use?

You export the existing Quicken files with the File, Export function.

You go to the new Quicken Installation, Create a New Account from the File Menu, and then File, Import the older data.

If you are asking for a stand-alone .QIF converter I do not know of one.

Apologies, I should have used the specific descriptive term 'standalone' to make things clearer. Unfortunately, I was not able to remember the term at the time of my previous posts.

Standalone is what I was looking for and I didn't think it existed but I figured that I lose nothing by asking.

Next step is to get the 2003 install files from the client and install it on the machine I'm working on to convert the files myself.

Thanks again, have a great holiday season if I don't bug you again before then. :)
