MULTIPLE USERS IN XP

I'm new to XP and am having some challenges with the multiple user function.

We just installed XP on our home computer and with my wife and I and three kids it seemed a good idea to set up five different users.

As the super user / administrator or whatever they call it things work well when I'm logged in but strange things happen with the other accounts:

* We have an HP laserjet 1000 and when any of the other users try to print nothing happens. But when they next turn the computer on the pages spit out. Again, when I print all is fine.

* I have the keyboard set to toggle between English and French. For the admin account I went to Control Panel, made the choices from a huge list of available language setups for the keyboard and have the little blue EN / FR icon bottom right on my desktop. But the other accounts when I go to Control Panel I have no choices -- US English is the only keyboard option I am offered.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I can't offer any advice, but thought I'd join in asking your question. I have a similar problem.

I have a Canon Multipass C755 (printer, scanner, fax, copier). When I'm logged in, everything works fine. When my wife or son logs in, they immediately start getting error messages saying that the system can't find the Multipass.

It seems that if only one of us is logged in, it works fine. It's when there are multiple log-ins that the problems begin.

Hope someone can offer some insight.

I know for each user XP will store their settings. It might go down to the harware level, although I would tend to doubt it. What level of security are you running on? What level are your other users on? Is there any security settings on the printer that might disallow them the use it?

Maybe try installing the printer under their user profile and see what happens. Mike Wills
