Multiple Upload - suggestions please

I'm struggling with uploads. In particular uploading multiple files - I can get it to work find from a form with multiple file type inputs which is great for three or four but when there are tens or even hundreds it is just not practical. I tried using 'value' to effectively default each input to a file but I gather browsers ignore this now and mine certainly appears to. Any ideas please?

Please.. as I am very new to this keep it simple and examples please

Can't get to grips with uploads via FTP - got the code, make the connection but can't upload the file. Can do everything else - change directory, create directory etc etc - help!!!
