I need to set up a trunk group with 2 T-1's. The first T-1 used channel 24 as the D channel, the second is just another 24 channels. I currently have trunk group 8 set up with 23 channels. I have another TN-464F in slot 16 of the A cabinet. I'm not sure how to exactly set this up. Any help is appreciated.

If you wish, you can call me at 800-879-1438.

If this is going to be just adding members to the group you have then just "add DS1 (the cabinet, and slot number) ". The do a change on the trunk group and add those new ports as members.

You also need to add a signalling group and specify which Board has the D channel.

If you are just adding trunks to a group, it will work off the signaling group that you already have in place. If you are adding another group then you will need to add antoher signaling group and trunk group.

mikeydidit,

I tried your suggestion but when I try to add the channels to the trunk group I have to supply a Sig Grp and we don't have one set up.

Currently signal group 2 is used for the 1st T-1. I did a change sig 2 and made Associated Signaling N and entered the 2 trunk boards as 01A08 Interface ID 2 and 01A16 Interface ID 3. This is accepted when I hit enter.

I can then add channels up to 23 in the trunk group but it won't let me add channel 24, it says channel 24 is a control channel. It appears that it considers this a "D" channel.

Thanks for your help,

Ron--

The way we have our set up is in a 47B+1D config. So each 47+1 config has its own sig group. Even though we have 1 TG we have 4 sig groups for that one TG.

From what you said at first it sounds like you are doing something similar. I would add a new Sig Group with ust those 2 new T's in it. the new Sig goroup should look similar to this

Group Number: 22 Group Type: isdn-pri
Associated Signaling? n Max number of NCA TSC: 0
Primary D-Channel: 01C1524 Max number of CA TSC: 0
Secondary D-Channel: Trunk Group for NCA TSC:
Trunk Group for Channel Selection: X-Mobility/Wireless Type: NONE
Supplementary Service Protocol: a

Trunk Brd Interface ID
1: 01C15 0
2: 01C19 1

When adding second/third/etc T1s to an existing PRI trunk group, where you want all 24 channels to be B channels, you need to set the "signaling mode" on the DS1 screen to "ISDN-EXT", "ISDN-PRI" will expect a D channel.

So do "change ds1 01a16" and make that change, you may need to remove the channels you already added from the trunk group first.

Problem Solved

My first error was in setting up the DS1 for the second span. The second span should have been set up as isdn-ext, not isdn-pri.

My second error was that I didn’t need to make an entry in the Processor Channel for the second span. I also didn’t need to set up a Communication Link for this span.

Basically, I tried to set up the second span as another PRI and it should not have been set up this way.

All I needed to do was make the correct entry in the DS1 form, add the new board to the Signal Group and add the channels to the trunk group.

The help I received form Tek-Tips was great. Thank You
