we have two nics on sun sparc and configured different netmask for each nic.

nic 1: 12.134.187.34/255.255.255.0
nic 2: 16.128.178.45/255.255.0.0

gateway: 12.134.187.1 for nic 1

I can reach NIC 1 from remote server at the same time I am unable to ping NIC 2. I understood something related to routing issue. Let me know how do I add or which gateway[route] address I need to mention for NIC2. so that I can reach/ping NIC 2 from remote servers thru NIC 1.

any help.

I think need something along the lines of route add -net 16.128.0.0 <ip address of gateway for 16.128 network>.

You should also have the correct netmasks in your /etc/netmasks file.

Now I changed to different but still i am having the same problem. also executed netstat, but it has hunged.

NIC1: 15.128.187.24
NIC2: 15.128.188.34

any help.

What's your gateway now and what do you have in /etc/netmasks? Can you include the ifconfig output for those two interfaces?

Annihilannic.

can we see the outputs of
netstat -rn
ifconfig -a
