My Win2K PC does not seem to be closing any instance of internet explorer I open. There is a running proccess left in the task manager. I can have up to 20 of these things running and only have 1 webpage up. I cannot figure out what the issue is. Any thoughts? I am winning W2K w/SP4. Other programs do not do this. Just the Internet Explorer.

Have you loaded the security patch that Microsoft has?? I know my pc. did that a while back and I loaded the security patch and that seemed to have fixed the problem.
Hope that helps...

Thanks for the responce Debbs. I have completely updated my PC except for Media player. I first thought it my be a security patch issue so I updated everything. However that does not seem to be the issue.

I am having a hard time getting this one figured out. If I open 10 iexplorers and close them then 10 will still be running processes. I can go through the running processes and close them manually. Any ideas?

butchrecon,

The exact filename, is it iexplore.exe or iexplorer.exe?
The real name of Internet explorer is iexplore.exe. If you have "iexplorer.exe" then chances are it's a virus, or by the sound of it, multiple viruses.

I am sorry it is IEXPLOR.EXE. No viruses. Fully updated. No Clue.
