wow.. where to start?
ok, after entering the username/password (this occurs for all users on this machine) and running the various logon scripts, the computer just kind of sits there.. you have to hit ctrl-alt-esc to bring up task manager, then start explorer.exe manually. ok, thats annoying, but I'm sure I could find a way around it.
next problem.. after opening internet explorer, you can use the address box to type in an address just fine, but if you go to a site with a search engine, or any other text input box, and attempt to enter any text, iexplore.exe generates errors and automatically closes.
lastly, and possibly the most bizarre of the 3 obvious problems..
when i open add/remove programs, all it shows is the icons, and the date the programs were last used. It does not show the internet explorer icon. The first icon is adobe acrobat, so I assume they are somehow in alphabetical order (by icon name perhaps).
I have personally never seen this combination of problems, or the 3rd one at all.
This all occurred after an internet explorer patch, which we have had various problems with domain-wide, but none this severe, and there are many other pcs out there configured exactly the same as this one..
windows 2000 sp3, p3 866, 256MB, etc etc
IE update was to 6.0.2800.1106CO
let me know what you think.. I'd like to get it fixed today, but I'm leaving in about 20 mins, it may have to wait till monday morning.
