Multiple domains on a single server 1

We're running windows 2000 Server and Exchange 2000. We are looking to add a second domain that e-mail comes from. Currently, all e-mail addresses end in @ourdomain.com. We'd like to be able to send from @anotherdomain.com. Is this possible? If so, can someone point me in the right direction?

First and most obviously you have to set up your echange server to handle mails from both domains.

Once this is done, then for each user that wnats to be identified with the second domain, add an appropriate SMTP address and set it as primary. They should then be send from that address.

In theory at least.....

Receiptant Policies will allow you to do this easily.
You will need to either

a) Create a seperate storage group to apply a new receipant policy to
or
b) identify some unique characteristic of the id's from the other domain to filter the policy on.

In the policy specify the details of the smtp address you need and make that the defaul.

sorry to reopen old thread...does anyone know how to keep 2 identities for the same account?
in other words:
1 user, 2 accounts
jack@comp1.com ---responds as---> jack@comp1.com
jack@comp2.com ---responds as---> jack@comp2.com

being that only 1 SMTP can be set as primary all of the responds made by this user are coming as such. This is very misleading since 1 user works for both companies. Outlook seems to allow only mailbox to be used at the time.
Any thoughts on how to "trully" host 2 domains?

Who sais Outlook can only handle 1 mailbox?
Go into your Profile - Change - More Settings - Advanced and add as many as you like

maybe I am missing something....outlook 2002 (XP) simply responds with "oulook can support only one exchange server account at the time and you already have one set up"

I did not say to add another account, but to add another mailbox to the existing one!

You can do this in Outlook too:
Tools- Email accounts - you chooe to MODIFY the existing one, Click the More Settings button, then the Advanced Tab and add as many as you like

How can I ensure that user will reply to messages with correct "mailbox"/account? This gets me to the point that 1 mailbox can 'receive/sotore' two exchange accounts but how to choose or auto replay with the one that maessage was originally sent to?

Hi Marc!
The only other idea I had was to setup second account to be accessed as POP account.
On the other side this does not solve the issue when user wants to use the 'outlook web access'....he/she still only has the access to defualt mailbox/domain. So even if I setup mailbox1 to forward to mailbox2 or give rights/access like you suggested I am still facing reponses coming from user jack@comp1.com.
On top of things, all outgoing mail will be stamped from one server as stmp.comp1.com. Would making an additional smtp.comp2.com virtual stmp server resolve this issue?
Sorry for the overload, I am relateively new at exch.

You choose the sending address in the From box (View - From Field).

You cannot acces a POP and Exchange account at the same time this way.

OWA lets you use 1 mailbox at the time, period.

Outgoing mail will be whatever the DEFAULT SMTP address is.
If you want 2, you need 2 mailboxes.
