I have a Laptop that moves between two different networks.
How can I set it up so that you can chose more than one domain in the login promt.

Now I have to go into properties on My Computer join a new domain, but that replaces the other domain. If i choose Add connection in My Networkplaces I only get to choose different kinds of dial-up connections.

What I want is the following in the dropdown menu at the logon screen:

Domain 1 -> Logs into company 1 with its network settings
Domain 2 -> Logs into company 2 with is network settings
Laptop(This computer) - Logs on to the local computer only

You can't. A computer needs to "join" a domain. It can be a member of only one domain at a time.

The only way you can choose different domains at boot is if you have ID's in each domain and the different domains are interconnectd and have the correct trust relationships between them.

If everything seems to be going well: you don't have enough information.......

Since you have changed your domain name maybe you can help me with my problem:
I'm having trouble changing my domain name so I can logon to my company server. When I attemp to change it through My Computer, Netwrk ID, it says that the "Either the domain name is not available or it does not exist." I'm at a lose as to how I can change it without having access to it.

Do you have any suggestions?

Tahnks!

I use something called Netswitch(er?) to flip between my works domain and my domain at home. It allows you to preconfigure IP settings, IE settings and domains for recall later. Depending on the settings it may or may not have you reboot the box. Works pretty well and the latest is written with Win2K in mind.

Nortons "mobile essentials" may do the trick. It sets up different network and dial up for variuos locations.

NetSwitch weems to get fairly high ratings from the press. Are there any other users who could comment.
My situation is that I would like to be able to use my Win2K Pro laptop both at work and home. 2 differnet LAN environments.

Try doing this. It depends on why your connecting to your network though. If it's just to share files (and I think printers too) you can try the following

Log on locally (Administrator). Manually map your drives it will prompt you for UserName and Password then make sure it "reconnects at logon" or whatever. That way you just log on locally and still have access to network files and stuff. Just another idea, create separate logons for company1 and company2.

Aloha,

James
