I recently had problems with DLT which i changed over, after rebooting Arcserve sees 14 instances of the SCSI device. Obviosuly only one of these id the correct device but i cannot distinguish between them.

Any ideas how i can get rectify this?

First of all check the OS is only seeing one device - if that is wrong then you need to correct that first. If the OS is seeing the correct number of devices, then stop the ARCserve tape engine, go into the registry, and browse to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Computer Associates\BrightStor ARCserve Backup\Base

Look for the TapeEngine key and delete it.

Start up the tape engine again and it will re-create it. You will loose any device group configuration you previously had by doing this. If it's a library - re-run device configuration to set up the library again.

check for a problem with termination or two devices with the same SCSI ID.
