I am setting up a lab to test multicast between 2 LPARS of a p690. I have an app that is a multicast sender and receiver. My multicast sender tells me it has a ttl of 30, but my packet capture between LPAR-a and the router shows the IP header with a ttl of 1. My Router connected to LPAR-a show that my "bad hop count" increments when I start my mcast send app. I am coming to the conclusion that the ttl of 1 is decremented to 0 and the multicast packet is dropped and not making it to LPAR-b.

Is it possible to set the ttl on AIX 5.2 ML02.

Thanks in advance,
John

My "no -a | grep udp_ttl" Shows my udp_ttl=30, but my sniffer shows the udp multicast to 224.0.1.10 has a ttl=1.

Thanks though,
John
